Trish made her friends laugh!

Trish made her friends laugh!

I guess I chose the picture above because to me that was Trish. She was all about making our lives happier. In the picture she has made her friend smile just as she did to each of us who knew her. This story was the #1 read story on lightenload for 2014 because of her. As you read how she affected my life you invariably said “yep, that sounds just like Trish!” You undoubtedly had memories of things that she did that affected you in a very positive way! It touched my heart reading a comment on the story from a lady that had lost her sister to suicide. It was Trish who had comforted her in that hard time. It was Trish that gave her hope in the midst of that awful situation and assured her that her sister was a disciple of God and no one or action could take that away. You read that and you say “yep, that sounds just like Trish!” If Trish could counsel us today about the loss we feel it would be the same. She would make us feel better and encourage us to carry on! Invariably she would put a smile on our face and a warm feeling in our hearts because it was never about her. You made this the #1 story because she touched your life. Something in the story made you laugh, made you cry, and made you thank God that we had Trish! Someone wrote a comment about the story. “Thank you for sharing”, they concluded “she would have wanted you to.” I truly think she would have and that thought puts a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart!

A Thought For 2015 Going Forward!

Tomorrow I will reveal the lightenload number one story for 2014 based on the number of reads from everyone out there. Today I would like to once again thank you the reader for the encouragement you provide me! I leave you with a thought to end the third year of lightenload! I found this deep truth while researching a book named Prison to Praise. When I found and shared this truth the one it helped the most had to be me! Knowing this truth it is so much easier to accept our circumstances! Instead of having our head down in sorrow we can lift our eyes to heaven knowing that we are in God’s perfect place!

It was around memorial day when I finally found out the news. It brought back memories of some lessons in life a kid had given me a few years ago!

While remembering my brother in law Dick in a memorial service his son Mike posed an interesting question. It made me think about and realize that we are more than snapshot pictures!

It’s only two words but those words can apply to us in life too just as they worked for a basketball team! Fight On!

Good Samaritan

It is officially Christmas day 2014! I’d like to take a break from the countdown today and re-visit the 2012 and 2013 Christmas day story! Unlike the stories I have been mentioning for 2014 in the countdown this story was one of the least read stories of 2012. However, it’s message is just as powerful if not more so than any of my stories! On this Christmas day we will be exchanging gifts with our loved ones! It is a time for showing love, much like God did with his “Greatest Gift of All!” In this story I tried to answer the question of…Why? Why would God give us a gift so great?

These girls are winners even when they are losing!

Although the losses on the court are piling up Carroll Academy is playing a much bigger game off the court. It’s the game of life and the school has helped many girls become winners!

This is not Plimpton, This is an expert!

Music is a lot like rolling down a steep hill. Once you get on that ride it is very hard to stop! When we start our sentences in a certain way we invariably take that ride down the steep hill with no stop in sight!

Chutes and Ladders

As a youth I played a lot of games where it was clearly defined what the attributes were in determining if you ended up a winner or a loser. Looking back at the definitions these games gave it is clear to me now that the definition of success was clearly not what success really is!
